Well, that figures

I’m not certain what will happen this evening with temple stuff and Ram Navami (plans do what they will) so I decided that I’d undertake the customary fast, and am consuming only tulsi tea and water before lunch, followed by some fruit, and then probably nothing but a few almonds later in the day. (Past fasts have been unsuccessful. My willpower is weak.) Perhaps I’ll have some rice and yogurt for dinner. We shall see.

So naturally, today would be the day that I’d run across this recipe:

Red Velvet Strawberry Shortcake

It’s got fruit in it, right? Okay, okay. Totally not what’s meant by eating only fruits. Fine! I accept this challenge! (That is, not thinking about the shortcake.)

Seriously, though, I like fast days. They’re good for concentration and contemplation and in my opinion are a good way to honor God and practice a little of that detachment I’ve been going on about lately. I’ve been making an attempt to focus on my work, which has so far been fairly successful.

(I make no promises about 5pm, although I get better at this each time.)

Well, anyhow, Happy Ram Navami, all. May Sri Rama smile upon you and give you his blessings.

About HappyGoth

By day, I'm a graphic designer. By night, I'm a knitter. I'm doing my part to keep Hotlanta stylish. I imagine that if you don't already understand the title of the blog, you're probably confused and perhaps slightly annoyed, but never fear - I do have a reason (and it's a good one). Having gone to hear Stephanie Pearl McPhee, and then having been inspired to blog about knitting, I found myself wondering what to call the blog. I recalled a conversation I had with Mouse and the Chicken Goddess about why it is a Bad Idea to anger knitters - this conversation was following SPM, aka the Yarn Harlot telling the assembled throng about Those Who Do Not Understand Knitting and Therefore Belittle It Much to the Chagrin of Others, or TWDNUKTBMCO, which is not the acronym she used but is the one I'm using because I forgot hers - that is, we are numerous and we all have very pointy sticks, easily transforming into an angry mob. Therefore, knitters = angry mob.
